New York, NY (November 8, 2021) — The 2020-2021 law school admissions cycle saw the largest year-over-year number of applicants in nearly 20 years and law school admissions officers predict this trend likely won’t reverse itself this current cycle, finds a new Kaplan survey*.
“Last year’s application cycle was extraordinarily competitive, with a 30% increase in the number of candidates submitting applications to law schools nationwide,” a representative from Duke University School of Law’s office of admissions told Law.com.
In some sense, some schools could have even done better last cycle — but they did last cycle what they do every cycle, which is make a number of September, October, November, December admits. That’s very status quo for law schools.
Applications for admission in fall 2022 have been “robust” so far, a spokesperson at Duke University office of admissions told Law.com last week. As of Dec. 27, U.S. law school applicant and application data showed declines for 2022, but still significant increases when compared to two years ago.
